I know, there’s some extra words added to the end of the post title! That’s ominous, right? It’s time for the January 2019 Julep Box Reveal, but there are bigger issues going on, and this post will be a bit different than my normal Julep Maven Box Reveal Posts.
But first, let’s see what I chose!
January 2019 Julep Maven Box
This box is worth $58, and I paid $19.99 shipped. That’s a 66% savings!
This Collection was just OK in my opinion. The polish colors were sort of blah for January, but I did manage to find a few cute ones. Both Zara and Logan have that micro-shimmer finish that Julep does so well.
There wasn’t a new skin care or beauty product this month, so I decided to get another Cushion Complexion Concealer since I love that product. Here’s a little review I did on the Cushion Complexion Concealer when I got it the first time.
I do the My Maven option where I get to pick what’s in my box (when I take a normal box), because I get to customize it. It takes the stress out of trying to pick a curated box where I love 100% of everything. If you’d like to sign up for customizable boxes, check out the My Maven program!
Here are all of the current coupons:

Now For the BIG News
The February Maven Selection Window opened up on January 20th, and there was a HUGE difference in the offerings this month. They caught long time customers like me by surprise. There were NO new nail polish colors to choose from for February. I’ve been a member of the Maven Subscription Program since July 2012 – over 6 years – and this is the first month that they haven’t had new colors.
In 2016, Julep was sold to a beauty conglomerate company that filed for Bankruptcy Protection in December 2018. Many of us have been watching the news closely as the Seattle Headquarters for Julep laid off workers to consolidate operations in New York. Many members of the Julep Swap Facebook Group got worried that this was the end for Julep, even though the company has said it will go on.
What’s My Plan?
So what does this mean? Do I still love Julep? Yes. Julep makes some fantastic products that you cannot get anywhere else. Products that I use every day. That being said, I decided it was time to cash in all of my Jules (reward points for loyalty) and get backups of my favorite products as add ons to my February box. I also chose products I’d been wanting to try or that I love as my product choices for February.
I’m not ready to cancel my subscription, and I’m hoping Julep pulls through. The subscription is still the best way to get Julep’s Luxury Beauty products at an amazing discount. I just didn’t want to take the risk of losing over 4,000 Jules when I could use them and get the products that I love. Julep is only doing month-to-month subscriptions and no longer billing 3 months at a time.
So, if you have Jules lying around, you should use them. Here’s a few of my favorite products that would be a great way to spend your Jules:
- Fast Absorbing Cuticle Cream
- Oxygen Nail Treatment
- Manicure Kit 5 Piece Tool Set
- Shimmer Nail Polishes – my favorite finish from Julep!
- It’s Whipped Matte Lip Butter
- Triple Quench Sheet Masks
Julep is having their End of Season sale, and you can save up to 75% off. Buy your favorite products now. Who knows if they will restock? Julep is still offering subscription sign ups, so you can take your chances like I am. You can also go month to month for $24.99.
My two cents, worth the price paid.
