Sorry for the brief hiatus these last few weeks. I had a perfect storm of website issues, health insurance issues, school issues, you name it. I did not have enough time to get everything done, so I took a week off from the blog. I’m sure everyone is sick and tired of all things Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, but I wanted to show you what I bought this year, even if most of it is already sold out.
Have you been shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale? I know I’ve told you that it’s been my favorite sale for over a decade. It really is like Christmas for me. I don’t really splurge, but this is my biggest single shopping trip of the year. This year, I did all of my shopping during Early Access for cardholders.

Ok, back to what I got!
Because I’ve shopped this sale for so long, I don’t need to buy all of the good things. I already have some of them. Also, since I Konmari’d my closet within the last 2 years, I’m very intentional about what I purchase. So most of my purchases this year were basic. This is a great sale for basics, because they rarely go on sale. It’s a great time to stock up!
If you follow me on Instagram, you can see a video I did when I got back from the store. Just click on the Nordstrom Sale Story highlight on my Instagram.
First, I got some tank tops for layering. These are the Halogen Two-Way Tanks. They are 2 for $38 in the sale, or $20.90 each. I got 1 of the tank style, and one of the camisole style. They rang up at $19 each, so you don’t have to get 2 of the same style to get the deal.
These tanks are really great because you can wear them two different ways, as the name suggests. For the tank, one neckline is a scoop neck and the other side is a v neck. For the cami, one side has a square neckline, and the other is a v neck.
I found the fit of these to run small. I sized up to a Small, and they are very clingy. They aren’t uncomfortably tight, but they aren’t loose at all. These tanks come in lots of colors and also come in Plus sizes. After the sale, these tanks retail for $29 each.
I took this opportunity to stock up on Nike No-Show Socks. These are the best socks. I’ve always heard great things about them, so I bought a pack last year. I bought 2 more packs this year, and I’m getting rid of the rest of my no show socks. These are thin and breathable, and they DO NOT MOVE. I’ve checked the price on these at the Nike outlet and other stores around town, and this is the cheapest I’ve ever seen them. 3 pair to a pack for $8.90, regularly $14. These are a must buy.
I absolutely love my Leith Circle Cardigans from last year’s sale, and I wanted to add some more colors to my closet. This year, the Leith cardigan is a cocoon style, which is very similar to the Circle. However, this year, the fabric is ribbed and very thin, and there are no pockets. I ordered the oatmeal color, and I wasn’t sure about it at first because it’s not as good as last year’s version. But in the end, I decided that it would be good for a transitional piece.
I also ended up ordering it in Pink later. They are on sale for $45.90, down from $69.
I’m wearing them here with the Articles of Society Sarah Skinny Jeans. I needed a new pair of black jeans, so I decided to try these These jeans are very soft and the fit was good. They are stretch jeans, and they are very, very black. I didn’t like that they seemed to collect and show lint. I decided to keep them and see how they do in the wash. They are on sale for $41.90 down from $64.
Barefoot Dreams items are some of the most popular of the sale. These cardigans, blankets, socks and other items are the softest things on the planet. If you don’t have any Barefoot Dreams, you are totally missing out. The best time of year to buy these awesome sweaters is the Anniversary Sale. I bought my first and only BD Cardigan about 4 years ago, and I wear it everyday, even in the Texas summer. I bought the circle cardigan in the dark charcoal color. It’s amazing! It’s on sale for $76.90, regularly $116, and its worth every penny of that splurge, trust me.
These lounge pants have been on my wishlist for a few years, and this year was the year to order them. They are super soft and I can’t wait for the temps to drop, because I will wear these around the house every day. They are on sale for $29.90.
Don’t miss the other Barefoot Dreams Items in the sale! There’s a Cardigan, Hooded Cardigan, Socks, Throws, Throw Pillows, and the cardigans also come in Plus Size!
The Leith Sleek Knit Midi Dress was on my list since I saw the catalog. Leith makes great dresses, but sometimes they can run small. I actually ordered this dress in a Small and an X-Small, just to make sure I got the right one before it sold out. The X-Small fit perfectly. The Small was a little too big on the top. However, this dress is very long and does not come in petite. I used my Nordstrom Alteration Credit to have this hemmed up, as well as the shoulders taken in. This dress is $42.90, regularly $65, and it is a HOT item. It sold out in both Small and X-Small the first day of Early Access.
These Spanx Faux Leather Camo Leggings were a total splurge. They were not on my list at all, but I’m a sucker for camo! I really like these because the pattern is subtle. I got these in an XS, and they were pretty tight getting them on, but fine once on. I’d say they are TTS, but size up if you’re in between. They are a little pricey at $72.90, but I always seem to have one impulse buy each year in that range, and this was the 2018 version.
The only Beauty Item I purchased this year was this Supergoop Setting Powder set. I love Supergoop products. They make fantastic sunscreens (I usually buy the 3 pack of spray sunscreen during this sale), and are now coming out with make up with SPF. I purchased the single Setting Powder Brush at Sephora last month during my birthday shopping, and it was $30. This kit is $40, and has 2 refills! Such a great deal! It’s $70 worth of stuff for $40!
There are lots of Supergoop value kits in the sale!
I’ve had the same Marc by Marc Jacobs phone wallet wristlet for about 5 years. It’s supposed to fit an iPhone 4, which it tiny, and something that I obviously don’t have anymore. Plus, the strap was about to fall off. I’ve been looking for a replacement that was more of a pouch, version. I wanted it large enough to fit my current phone, the larger replacement phone I’m getting in the future, my car key fob, and my wallet. This Kate Spade wristlet is the perfect solution! My plan is to keep my wallet & key fob in it at all time, and then just grab it out of my large purse when that’s all I need. I’ve been using it for a couple weeks now, and it is perfect! It comes in 2 colors and is on sale for $65.90.
The other handbag purchase I made was this Tory Burch Marsden Wallet Crossbody. This bag is perfect as a stadium bag when I just have a few things to carry & want to be hands free. You can also remove the strap and just carry it as a clutch. It’s amazing and I love it. This is my favorite purchase from the sale this year. It’s on sale for $151 down from $ and has been sold out off and on. Keep checking back, because some times it pops back up as available for a very short time.
That was all of the stuff that I ordered & picked up at the store in my first order. About half of my order had to be shipped, and there were issues, but they were all resolved. I ended up eventually getting everything I ordered except for one item that was sold out.
In the shipped part of the order, I got these UGG Pajamas. I really want to upgrade my pajamas. I’ve been wearing the same Target tank pajamas for years, and I’m almost 40, so it’s time. I thought they were cute, even if a little expensive for pajamas. Under $50 for the sale, though.
These UGG wedge booties sold out in a nano second. They are waterproof and lined with that UGG sherpa that’s so amazing. These will be perfect for the Fall & Winter! The heel wasn’t too high either. In fact, it didn’t feel like I was wearing a heel at all. I went ahead and ordered half a size bigger than normal. They’re a bit big around the ankle, but I think they’ll be ok with cuffed jeans. They are on sale for $129.90, down from $
I always get my son a pair of shoes for school at this sale, usually a pair of cool sneakers. He likes Adidas Gazelles, so I went for the Green this year. They are a gorgeous green! His feet are so big, that I was able to squeeze my feet in them, though they are too small for me to wear. Next year, I’ll be able to wear his cute sneakers, which makes me sad, but makes my budget happy. They are on sale for $ down from $
I placed a second order to pick up at the store shortly after the first. I wanted to make sure there weren’t any glitches or sell outs before I started ordering things I didn’t think were as insanely popular. This was a much smaller transaction.
First, I ordered Doug’s annual replenishment of underwear & t-shirts. He loves the Nordstrom brand, and this is when they are on sale, so we stock up.
I also picked up the 5 pack of my favorite candle brand, Voluspa, in mini tins. This gift set was $26.50, and my plan is to separate the candles to give as teacher gifts. $5.30 per teacher gift! Can’t beat that!
Just before we left to pick up my order at the store (the curbside pickup was AMAZING!), their app was having issues. I wanted to order a sweater for my mom, so I called and had them pull this BP Cocoon Cardigan in green to put with my pick up order. I just paid for it when I pulled up to the store. Easy peasy! I later ordered one for me in grey. This one runs big, so make sure you size down. I went with a XX-Small. They sell out fast too. This one is on sale for $31.90, down from $49.
I know this looks like a lot and doesn’t seem very frugal, but I want you to know that I saved money all year to shop this sale. This sale, plus a little Back to School Shopping at Target and Old Navy are really the only times of year that we make big retail purchases like this. After that, clothing & shoe shopping for this family is pretty sparse, with maybe a piece here or there. I think saving up to shop this sale is frugal, because you can’t beat the deals and the items are for the new season. Like I’ve said before, these are items that I wear over and over again for years, because I’m not buying trendy pieces that go out of style.
What did you buy during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale? What was your favorite purchase this year? There’s still a few more days to get these deals! Sunday is the last day and prices go back up August 6th!
