How I Spent My Birthday Coupons!

If you read last week’s post, you know I love to take advantage of all of the birthday coupons and freebies that stores and restaurants give you in honor of your birthday.  For most of them, you have to sign up in advance.  Today, I thought I’d show you what I got for my birthday, plus how much I spent using those discounts.

First, I didn’t use ALL of the birthday coupons that I got this year. That’s almost impossible, but an honorable goal!  Since my birthday is at the end of the month, I always have to wait. Some coupons don’t come until my actual birthday, while some come at the beginning of the month. I get kind of rushed to use them all in the 7 days before July.

How I Spent My Birthday Coupons

First, we were planning on having friends over to celebrate my birthday last Friday. I’ve been wanting a pot with some flowers for our new backyard stairs. The local nursery, Calloway’s, sent me a 30% off coupon for anything in the store. I chose this gorgeous blue pot with a slight geometric pattern. It was originally $49.99, and I got it for $34.99 with my coupon. I also picked up some Cora Vinca to plant inside it.

On Saturday, I needed to pick up some new windshield wipers, and Dairy Queen happens to be next door.  So, my son and I went to cash in my BOGO Blizzard coupon!  I got Butterfinger, he got Oreo.  We shared. #icantdecide

One of my favorite Birthday Freebies is the Free Starbucks Drink.  If you have a registered Starbucks Rewards account, you get a free item on your birthday!  I chose to get a Venti Vanilla Cafe Frapp with no whip just before going to get my nails done.

After my trip to the nail salon, I went to a local shopping center that has several of the retailers that send out birthday coupons. I was able to use my $5 DSW Coupon on these Converse Shoreline sneakers.  Then, I went to Sephora where I chose the free GlamGlow Birthday Gift for Beauty Insiders. I used some birthday money to buy the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask and Supergoop SPF Setting Powder & SPF Refresh Spray. I also redeemed 500 points to get this DryBar House Favorites Travel Set.

After Sephora, I went to Anthropologie. Not only did I have a 15% off birthday coupon, but I had also received a gift card for my birthday. I shopped their awesome clearance sale and picked up this lace top and this embroidered top, both 30% off.  I also got my first Capri Blue Candle!  It smells so good!

The last store I went to on my shopping trip was Kendra Scott. I had the hardest time trying to choose what to get there.  I almost got these earrings, then I was going to get this ring, but I finally spotted the Harlow Necklace.  I’ve been wanting this exact necklace in white for about 4 years.  Well, as luck would have it, the white Harlow necklace was on sale for 40% off!  Since the Kendra Scott Birthday Discount is 50% off any item in the store, I scored this necklace that’s been on my wishlist for just $60!

Finally, I used one birthday coupon to do some online shopping. One of my favorite retail birthday coupons is from Madewell.  Not only do you get free shipping, but they give you $25 to spend on anything!  I love their Whisper T-shirts, but this year, I decided to try their Whisper Tanks.  Those haven’t been delivered yet, but when they do, I’ll be sure to update the post with a picture.  They usually get delivered much faster than the shipping confirmation quote.

We’re heading out to Brio Tuscan Grille tomorrow night to spend one of the last birthday coupons for this year. It’s just $10 off a meal, but I love their Pasta ala Vodka, and I can’t say no to a Peach Bellini.
