Have you seen the Dyson Airwrap all over your social media feeds? What if I told you there was a way to get a FREE Dyson Airwrap that isn’t a scam? Would you believe me?
In case you’ve missed out on the hype, the Airwrap is the hottest new hair tool from Dyson. It’s a multi-functional tool that uses air to curl your hair in a way that’s much healthier than using hot metal or ceramic tools. It comes with several attachments, including different sized curling barrels, smoothing brushes, and a dryer – all in an organized, pretty case. Plus, it’s been redesigned & re-engineered this year!
It’s also $600. Ouch. And its been pretty much sold out everywhere since Christmas.
Well, I really want one, but I don’t want to pay $600. I mean, the tagline here is Never Pay Full Price, right?
So I’m going to get it for Free, and I’m going to show you how. Challenge Accepted!
The Free Dyson Airwrap Strategies
In order to get my $600 Dyson Airwrap for Free, I first need to select my strategy. There are several ways I could do this. First, I could save up Credit Card points/cash back and pay for it that way. That is certainly a viable option, but I generally like to use Credit Card Rewards on travel or family activities.
Next, I can use Store Rewards points. There are several retail stores that sell the Dyson Airwrap that I shop at and hold Rewards Accounts. These are stores like Sephora, Ulta and Nordstrom. This option would take a really long time seeing as I only buy things on sale or with a coupon. Dyson hair tools have never gone on sale and they are specifically excluded from Ulta coupons.
Finally, I can earn Free Gift cards from my favorite apps & rewards sites. If I work at it, I can generally rack up these Free Gift Cards fairly quickly, but I’m not sure that I want to go that route.
Given these options, I’ve decided to do a hybrid of the second and third options. Specifically, I’m going to get the Free Dyson Airwap at Ulta using Rewards and Free Gift Cards.
Let me explain why and how I’m going to do that more in depth.
Why Ulta?
By first deciding on the retailer to purchase my Free Dyson Airwrap, I can hone in on the exact strategy. The Ulta Rewards Program is by far the best and most flexible of the three retailers I chose from. The reason why its so flexible is because you can save up your points and use them on anything in the store with no restrictions. Also, Ulta sells more than just fancy beauty products. They have your favorite drug store brands AND they always have a coupon to use on those purchases. Finally, I became a Platinum Member ($500 annual spend) at the very end of last year, meaning my points won’t expire as long as I keep that level. I also earn 1.25 points per dollar as long as I maintain my Platinum membership level.
I know, $500 sounds like a lot to spend at Ulta. Whenever you annualize amounts, it always sounds like more. However, remember I use YNAB for our family budget. So I set aside a certain amount from each paycheck in a Beauty category to cover makeup, skincare and haircare products. By budgeting this way, I’m giving myself permission to spend that money on beauty products if I want to. It’s not restrictive. Click here to find out more about how our YNAB budget has changed our lives and can change your’s too!
So now that I have my store of choice decided, I need to figure out how to collect points fast to get a Free Dyson Airwap as quickly as possible.
Buy Everything At Ulta
One way I’m going to collect points at Ulta fast is to buy everything my family needs at Ulta. If Ulta sells it, that’s where I’m buying it. For example, my family loves Sun Bum Sunscreen. I can buy that at Ulta, use a coupon when its on sale, and earn rewards that I wouldn’t earn if I bought that same sunscreen at Target.
Ulta also has increased point promotions all the time. In January, they had a 5x points promotion on all First Aid Beauty products. I love FAB, but it’s a prestige brand. That means you can’t use most Ulta coupons on those products. Earning 5x points on those items at full price was like giving a discount. I earned 1.25 points on the purchase price, plus 4x the purchase price in bonus points.
The more points you earn at Ulta, the better the redemption value is. Always check that when you’re trying to decide if a 5x points deal is a good deal or if its better to wait for a sale or a rare 20% off coupon.
Leverage Free Gift Card Apps
The second half of my strategy to get a Free Dyson Airwrap is to leverage Free Gift Card Apps and Rewards websites.
I’ve told you about how to earn Free Gift Cards and Cash easily online, so I’m going to use those programs to get Free Ulta Gift Cards. Specifically, I’m going to use Fetch, Drop, Shopkick and Receipt Hog. I may use Swagbucks, however, I like to get my $25 Amazon each month first.
The Fetch Rewards App
With the Fetch app, you earn points by scaning ANY receipt from ANY store or restaurant. Each receipt is worth 25 points. There are bonus points for purchasing specific items & these change regularly. You can also link your email to pull any online shopping receipts for points.
Think about all of the times you buy anything. That’s free money for every receipt! A $5 Ulta gift cards start as low as 5,000 points.
You can also get extra points for referring your friends, so if you want to help me get a FREE Dyson Airwrap, sign up for Fetch here with code MA4HH to get 2,000 points to start! Thanks!
The Drop App
I earn in the Drop app several ways including in-store & online shopping, free games & the occasional survey. Every Wednesday, Drop offers bonus offers at certain retailers, some which include In-Store offers. In-Store offers work when you link your credit cards in the Drop app and make a purchase with one of those cards. I’ve had my cards linked for years and have never had a problem at all. Some of those bonus offers go fast, like the Kroger one is usually good for only a couple of days before it disappears, but it also works at the Kroger Gas pumps. I earn about 100 points per day playing the Free basketball game. Occasionally, I will do a survey.
Another way I’ve been collecting points is by ordering things that I need online through their shopping offers if the points are good enough & a better return than other apps. For example, I used Drop to place my Sephora Sale Orders because they were giving 50 points per dollar.
A $50 Ulta Gift Card is 50,000 points. You can get 5,000 points ($5 worth) for free when you sign up here and use code x1pog!
Shopkick
You know all of those Target, HomeGoods & TJ Maxx shopping trips you see me do on my Instagram Stories? I may or may not buy anything, but I’m earning points toward my FREE Dyson Airwrap. Shopkick rewards you with points when you check into stores, scan products inside certain stores, watch videos on the app, scan receipts, and buy things with a linked credit card. Not all stores are a part of Shopkick, but I earn for checking in & shopping at TJ Maxx/Marshalls/HomeGoods, Kroger, Target, Best Buy and CVS. Do you shop at those stores? If so, you’re losing out on Free money if you aren’t using Shopkick!
Those days you need to get out of the house and go wander every aisle at Target but not buy anything? You could be scanning items for free Shopkick points. This is another app that I’ve had my credit card linked to for many years and have never had a problem. I get points when I make a purchase at those stores with my linked card. It’s so easy to earn points fast with Shopkick.
Ulta gift cards start at $5 for just 1,250 points. You can get 500 points to start when you sign up here with code COOL915655 and earn 10 kicks n 7 days! That as easy as checking in at Target!
Receipt Hog
Receipt Hog is an app that I’ve been using for several years to get free Paypal cash. With Receipt Hog, you just upload a picture of any receipt, answer a few demographic questions, and you get rewarded. Grocery & Drug Store receipts get your more points, other retail & restaurant receipts get you spins on the slot machine, which rewards you with more points. Sometimes there are surveys you can participate in to earn more. You can also link your email to get points for online grocery and Amazon purchases.
This one takes longer to earn, and I generally wait until I have enough points to cash out for $40 in Paypal Cash. You can earn 5 free spins when you sign up here with code buf51097 and snap your first receipt!
Maximizing the rewards apps on my phone is my favorite way to earn free money. This time, I’m going to concentrate on Paypal Cash and Ulta Gift Cards. Once you have your Ulta gift cards, you’ll need to call their customer service line and have those consolidated into one gift card code that you can use online to get your FREE Dyson Airwap.
How Long Will It Take?
That’s the $600 question, right? How long is it going to take me to earn enough points and free gift cards to get my Free Dyson Airwap? Well, let’s see where I’m starting.
Today is June 17th, and I’ve been working this strategy for most of 2022. Here are my current points across all of those accounts:
Ulta Rewards – 2,555 points worth $142.50. I’ve already hit Platinum & I’m 74% of the way to Diamond Status.
Fetch – 28,196 points. I’m saving for a $50 Ulta card, so I’m 56% of the way there.
Drop – I’ve already earned two $50 Ulta Gift Cards from Drop & currently have 23,377 points. 47% of the way to my third $50 Ulta Gift Card.
Shopkick – 4,251points. I can cash out for $10 now, but I’m going to wait. 34% of the way to a $50 Ulta Gift Card
ReceiptHog – 3,659 points. I’m 57% of the way to $40 in Paypal cash.
That means I’ve got a little over $277.50 in points & rewards toward my FREE Dyson Airwrap. So I’m almost halfway there. Once you hit $125 worth of points in Ulta Rewards, the points become worth more. June is my birthday month, so I get 2x points all month long. That will help me hit Diamond status, where my points will be 1.5x per dollar.
I’ve also saved up some cash for it too, but I’m trying not to use that. We’ll see if I cave early or not.
Do you have a Dyson Airwrap or did you try to get one for Free with Rewards? Was this post helpful? Tell me all about it in the comments. Also, leave your guess below as to when you think I’ll actually get it, and if I use cash or not. I’d love to hear what you think!
