Here it is! You knew that using coupons was going to be high on the list, right? Well, it’s number 2!
This is the second in a series of blog posts entitled “How I Save Money”. This will be a semi-regular series of posts detailing one way in which I’ve saved money for my family. Each tip will be my own experience, but something that you can easily replicate in your own money-saving journey, if you so choose.
You can see Tip #1 here.
Tip #2: Use Coupons
We’ve always tried to use coupons, and we’d save money here and there, but I started saving a TON of money when I finally realized exactly how to use those little pieces of paper that I clipped from the Sunday Newspaper.
When we were “casual couponers”, we used an expandafile and thought that you could only use one like coupon per transaction. That is so wrong! My savings skyrocketed when I figured out that most coupons are one coupon per item (purchase), but you can use multiples of the same coupon as long as you buy the required amount of products and comply with any fine print limits.
Example: if I have a $1 off Tide coupon, and I want to buy 3 bottles of Tide, I can actually use 3 identical coupons, one for each bottle!
The other way that I started saving a ton with coupons was by using a binder with baseball card holders. Once I could see all of my coupons, I knew what I had and I was more likely to use them. Check out my Coupon Binder & all of the different Coupon Binder Pages that I use.
How to Coupon
I’ve already written 2 posts on how to get started. You can read those here:
The first 5 Tips are more getting organized, getting ready to get started, and simple coupon etiquitte. The second post with the last 5 Tips are actually how to use your coupons to maximize your savings.
You can find coupons everywhere, just keep your eyes peeled. We even have printable coupons and coupon codes for online shopping at all of your favorite stores right here on Stacy’s Savings!
So, Tip #2 for How I Save Money is Using Coupons.

I clip coupons all the time! Since we do a lot of our grocery shopping at Kroger, I also load coupons on my Kroger card! It helps a lot!
