It’s time for the 2017 Target Toy Clearance! Here’s what I scored and how I shopped the clearance sale!
What is the Target Toy Clearance?
Target is making way for all of the new Christmas Toy Inventory, so they have to clearance out the older stuff. The Target Toy Clearance happens twice a year, in January & July, and its a great time to stock your toy closet (or box in the attic like me) with gifts for all occasions!

How My Target Does the Toy Clearance
I stopped by my local smaller Target this morning to see if it was time for the big drop to 70% off! They did have some employees marking things down in the toy aisles, but it was different than in years past. Before, they would consolidate all of the clearance toys in a few aisles and mark almost everything down the last Thursday of July. That wasn’t the case for me this morning. They had a few inside endcaps with clearance toys, but the rest were still in their normal shelf spots. Some items were 70% off, like the Kokomoras, but others were 50% and some even 30%. There was no clear across the board cuts to 70%.
What I Found
I did manage to find a few things, and I purchased several items that were 50% off, either because it was the only one and I didn’t think it would make it to a 70% cut, or because things like Play Doh never get marked down past 50% off anyway.
I’m going to keep checking back this week as well as next Thursday. I’m also going to keep my receipt in a safe place in case I find any of the items I bought get further marked down. Target doesn’t do price adjustments on clearance items, but you can buy them at the new price and return them with the old receipt.
I didn’t find much for the 8 year old boy set, but I did find several things for my 5 year old & 1 year old daughters. Don’t forget to stock up on Toy Drive Donations!
Other Target Clearance
There’s clearance all over the store, so don’t forget to check those interior endcaps! I scored 3 Magic Tree House Books at 30% off! I love to give those as gifts for my son’s friends along with a small Lego kit. The kids probably don’t appreciate the books, but the Mom’s do!
