I’m on a mission to organize our lives, and for me, that means binders! Lots and lots of binders! Today, I’m going to show you my Home Management Binder so you can build one too!
My Home Management Binder
Home Management Binders have been around forever, but I decided to do mine a bit differently. I wanted to be able to get really detailed, so I decided that instead of one big Home Management Binder, I would split mine up into several smaller binders. That way, each binder would be a different color. I’ve loved color coding forever. It’s an easy organizational tool that I’ve used since I was in school.
I split my Home Management Binder up into 5 separate binders: House, Budget, Blog (or Small Business), Meal Plan, and Emergency. I also got several large binders for all of those product manuals we have and for Baby/Kid manuals. What, your kids didn’t come with a manual? Mine did!
Supplies
Here are the supplies I used for each binder:
- 1″ Staples Better Binders (Larger for the Manual Binders)
- Avery Big Pocket Dividers – 5 Tab – At least 1 set per binder, minimum
- Staples Pencil Pouch – 1 Per Binder
- Avery Heavyweight Page Protectors – You need a lot! Trust me!
- Avery Monthly Dividers – 3 sets (House, Budget, Blog)
- Post It Filing Tabs
- Notebook Paper
- 3 Hole Punch
- Label Maker
There are some supplies that are not on this list, but that’s because I had a specific use for it in one binder. Like graph paper, for example. I’ll point those items out in that binder’s post.
I got a lot of these supplies during Back to School Sales on Amazon and at Staples. Staples has printable coupons on their website. I found one for 30% off Better Binders a in September! Also, check the Weekly Ad for sales, and Binder Recycle Discount details.
I am in love with Staples Better Binders. I wish they had these when I was in school! They really are a better binder. Each binder is made of durable plastic, they come in a variety of colors and sizes, they have rubber on the edges to prevent cuts & tears, and the rings open easily with one finger! I can’t say enough about these binders. Check out all of the color and size options!
My husband got me a Dymo Label Maker for Christmas many years ago. It’s perfect for me because I’m super OCD. I love labeling stuff! I used the label maker to label all of the tabs in each binder. They don’t sell the one that I use anymore, so I found this one if you are in the market. I’ve had great success with my Dymo Label Maker!
Free Printables
For each binder, I created a set of printables. After looking at the tons and tons of other printables on Pinterest, so many of them use ink from top to bottom in really vibrant colors. I just think that is a complete waste of ink! Since my binders are bright, I wanted to tone it down on the printables, and only use as much ink as absolutely necessary. I love the background on my blog because it’s so modern, but it’s not overdone chevron (even though I love chevron), so I used that and then created the pages that I needed for my binders.
Check out my House, Meal Planning, Emergency and Budget binders! I even have some FREE printables for you to use to create your own organized binders!

What a great idea and way to organize one’s household. I love that these are in print as I know all too well that if you have your life organized on the computer and the computer crashes (with no backup), you’ve lost everything which has happened to me twice. I will never organize my life on a computer again without an external hard drive as backup. I do like that it is all in print where access to it is easy.

You should totally make a Vacation Binder!
Stacy says
Maybe I will! If I ever get around to posting it, I have a file box for papers, and there’s a vacation folder in there. A couple vacation-related folders, actually.

I’ve never thought to do this, but it seems like a real life saver!!! And the things we need to use are things we already have in the house. I’m going to bring this up to my mom. Thanks!

It really is! I hope it works for you!

These are super cute! I always claim I’m going to do all this organizing online/ in Excel, which may be perfectly possible nowadays but doesn’t work for me at all.
Stacy says
I do a little of it in Google Docs, but I like to be able to write stuff down. This keeps me more accountable because it’s in my face! LOL!
