Other Stuff: Candy Cane Nail Art!

Merry Christmas! I hope you all had a wonderful Holiday with your friends and family! I wanted to get into the spirit of the holidays with my nails, so I decided to do some Candy Cane Nail Art!

To achieve this look, I used Julep Isla with China Glaze Ruby Pumps over it.

How to do Candy Cane Nail Art

This way is a little backwards from other tutorials I’ve seen.  I decided to use striping tape to get my lines perfect, but in order to do that, I needed to put the white down first.  It’s hard to get a good opaque-ness with white, so I figured it was better to put that down first.

I painted two coats on each nail of Julep Isla.   I then cut 40 pieces of striping tape, and placed them on my nails in the pattern I wanted.  After those were in place, I painted each nail with two coats of Ruby Pumps, and then pulled the tape off immediately, before proceeding to painting the next nail.

I finished with a coat of Seche Vite top coat.

I really like this nail art. I like that it would be good for the Christmas holidays but it is really neat and more sophisticated looking than most Christmas nail art.

I use Seche Vite as a top coat also. The best. I’ll have to remember this simple holiday paint. I’m lucky if I even get time for a simple coat of red.

I’ve always done my nails at home to save money, but I wanted something that actually lasted without damaging my nails.

The Dazzle Dry system dries in about 5 minutes, wears like gel (without the damage), and I can go over a week without chipping.

I’m using You’re Unforgettable from their Better Together spring collection, and I linked the full system + shades in my LTK so you can shop everything in one place.

This is my 16-year-old son’s bedroom. I designed it back in the 2020 One Room Challenge with the goal of creating something we wouldn’t need to redo every few years.

Before that, it was a bright little boy’s room.
And when we first got the keys? Just a blank box.

Over time, we’ve upgraded it slowly — including replacing the carpet with hardwood last year to match the rest of the house.

The foundation hasn’t changed.
Just the seasons.

More books.
More Legos.
More personality.

Same room. Just evolving.

I’ll be sharing more spaces from our renovation — not in order, just as they come. Follow along for more. 🤍
