Who’s ready for the Target Toy Clearance January 2013?

When Is the Toy Clearance?

I looked at my Target Toy Clearance post from last year to try and figure out when the clearance would drop to 70% off this year.  Last year, it was January 12.  They always mark down my stores on Thursdays.  That means, if the schedule was the same, it would go to 70% off today.

At one of my stores on December 29th, they had consolidated the clearance items into one aisle, and most items were 50% off.  Target generally marks clearance down again after two weeks.  That, also, would point to today.

So, I got up bright and early, and went to the Little Target that I went to on the 29th.  Not only did they not have much of the things I was looking for, most items were 30-50% off.  The employees were marking down the baby department.

My Second Target

I decided to go to the Super Target in my town.  They had more toys, and they were in the process of marking down the toy department.  Only, they were marking down to 50% off, for the most part.  The one item I really wanted was the Cars2 12 pack.  They were scanning 50% off at the Little Target on the 29th, the Little Target was out today, and I found one at the Super Target.  I had one of the employees who was marking the toys down scan the cars pack to see what the discount was.  It was 30%.  What?  So it was more expensive there than it had been for 2 weeks at the Little Target.

Toy Clearance Changes

As for the mark down, it seems they are doing the Toy Clearance January 2013 differently.  Only about 10-20% of the toys on the clearance aisle were actually marked down to 70% off, and really none of the Name Brand stuff, like Barbie or Disney stuff.  Most of the brand name items were 50% off, but a lot of the Cars2 toys at the Super Target were 30% off.

I did find some items for my Toys for Tots Donation for 2013.  I bought all items that were less than $5 each (except for a few things slightly over that but 70% off), or were 70% off, or ended in a $.x4 (meaning it wouldn’t go any further).

My Third Target

After leaving that Super Target, I decided to go to another Super Target about 10 minutes away to see if they had the cars.  I bought the cars at the Super Target in my town, but I didn’t want to pay that much, so I figured I’d see if they had them.  They did!!  They had several boxes marked at 50% off!!!  I don’t understand why that one store, in active mark down and scanned with the markdown gun, was ringing at 30% off.  So weird.

I’m going to return those 30% off Cars tomorrow.  I also bought a Cars2 Shake & Go car that was 50% off, but we’ve already opened it and played with it, so it’s not included in the picture.  I spent about $100, and the retail value is $300.  Not bad.  But not good since I didn’t get anything for my now empty toy attic.

Maybe It’s Next Week?

So, maybe next week the rest will go 70% off.  Maybe tomorrow.  Who knows.  I’m going to go to a store in Dallas tomorrow to see what their aisle looks like.  I didn’t get anything for birthdays or Christmas for my friends and family.  After 5 Target Toy Clearances, this one had the least amount of toys that I’ve seen.  I usually stock up for all events today at this sale, and I didn’t get anything except donations and one gift for my son for Valentine’s Day.  It was disappointing.

I’ve always done my nails at home to save money, but I wanted something that actually lasted without damaging my nails.

The Dazzle Dry system dries in about 5 minutes, wears like gel (without the damage), and I can go over a week without chipping.

I’m using You’re Unforgettable from their Better Together spring collection, and I linked the full system + shades in my LTK so you can shop everything in one place.

I’ve shared parts of this room before — but not th I’ve shared parts of this room before — but not the full evolution.

This is my 16-year-old son’s bedroom. I designed it back in the 2020 One Room Challenge with the goal of creating something we wouldn’t need to redo every few years.

Before that, it was a bright little boy’s room.
And when we first got the keys? Just a blank box.

Over time, we’ve upgraded it slowly — including replacing the carpet with hardwood last year to match the rest of the house.

The foundation hasn’t changed.
Just the seasons.

More books.
More Legos.
More personality.

Same room. Just evolving.

I’ll be sharing more spaces from our renovation — not in order, just as they come. Follow along for more. 🤍

Adding an art lamp was the final touch. It completely changed how this space feels, especially at night. ✨
