Spring Garden Update!

We’re getting a ton done on the guest bathroom project, and I’m super busy with that right now.  So this week’s Thursday post is going to be a sweet little Spring Garden Update!

If you remember a few months ago, I showed you how I built a Raised Vegetable Garden complete with Bunny Gates.  The garden is working out great, and the plants are just now starting to produce!  Let’s check out what I’ve got growing so far!

We have a family of lizards that call my vegetable garden home

First, you need to meet the newest wildlife on our property!  Since building the veggie garden, this family of lizards have made it their home, specifically, the crack between the garden and the house.  There’s at least 3, maybe 4 of them.  They always come out to say hi when we’re watering or tending to the garden.  I hope they are keeping the garden free of pests!

We're checking in on my Spring garden and seeing what's growing, like this roma tomato!

The first plant to produce is the Roma Tomato!  I see salsa in my future!  There’s a slightly smaller one just behind it.

We're checking in on my Spring garden and seeing what's growing, like this tiny Jalepeno!

This tiny Jalapeno sprouted this week!

We're checking in on my Spring garden and seeing what's growing, like this lettuce!

My son planted some lettuce seeds about a month ago, and they are taking forever and a day to grow.  I get jealous when we drive by the community garden and see these huge heads of lettuce.

We're checking in on my Spring garden and seeing what's growing, like these carrots!

My daughter planted these carrot seeds, and they’re starting to sprout, but I don’t know if they are going to make it.  Carrots are hard to grow here because it gets too hot too fast.  We’ll see!

That’s it for the veggies.  Let’s see some of the other things that I’ve been working on back here!

We're checking in on my Spring garden and seeing what's growing, like this tiny Elephant Ear!

This is an Elephant Ear that I’ve had for many years.  For the last 2 or 3 years, I had 3 Elephant Ear Bulbs, and this year, I bought 3 more.  I’m hoping that it will look really cool in about a month.  The only problem is, this is the only one that’s sprouted so far.  We’ve had such a weird Spring, I think the ground hasn’t been warm enough.  Hopefully, they pop up in the next two weeks, or I’m going to have to dig around and find out what’s going on.

I love simple pots of hot pink geraniums. They are my favorite thing to grow!

I know fancy arranged pots are popular, but I’m simple when it comes to the garden.  I love blue pots with hot pink geraniums.  That’s all I want in my pots.  This year, I found these Rocky Mountain Pink geraniums, and they are gorgeous!

If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen a BIG project we hired out in January.  We replaced our entire stone retaining wall and 6′ iron fence on 3 sides of our house.  It took a long time and cost as much as a nice kitchen remodel.  I’m going to do a full post on it this summer when my yard is fully grown in, so stay tuned!

But, I’ll give you a sneak peek of this new part of the yard – The Shade Garden!

We're checking in on my Spring garden and seeing what's growing, like my new shade garden!

I posted this on Instagram a few weeks ago because I was absolutely giddy that it was done.  I’ve been thinking and dreaming about this exact shade garden pretty much since we moved into this house.  Before, this space was all pea gravel.  All of it.  Now, it’s a beautiful spot in the yard!

My new shade garden is done!

I love going out here to water every day!  I finally got to plant the blue hydrangeas I’ve been wanting to plant since we moved in!

That’s it for my Spring Garden Update.  I’m really enjoying my new garden, and I want to keep going and make the rest of my yard as pretty as this little area!  I have grand plans (of course), but I’ll do it little by little.  I think I’m done for now in the backyard.  We just need to wait for the tropicals to grow in.

Now I think we’re going to improve the front yard a bit in the Fall.  I can’t wait!  Maybe I’ll get the azaleas I’ve been dreaming about! We’ll see!

Do you have a Green Thumb?  What’s sprouting in your garden?  Do you have tips for new gardeners?  Tell me in the comments!  I’m trying to soak up all of the gardening tips I can get!

I’ve always done my nails at home to save money, but I wanted something that actually lasted without damaging my nails.

The Dazzle Dry system dries in about 5 minutes, wears like gel (without the damage), and I can go over a week without chipping.

I’m using You’re Unforgettable from their Better Together spring collection, and I linked the full system + shades in my LTK so you can shop everything in one place.

I’ve shared parts of this room before — but not th I’ve shared parts of this room before — but not the full evolution.

This is my 16-year-old son’s bedroom. I designed it back in the 2020 One Room Challenge with the goal of creating something we wouldn’t need to redo every few years.

Before that, it was a bright little boy’s room.
And when we first got the keys? Just a blank box.

Over time, we’ve upgraded it slowly — including replacing the carpet with hardwood last year to match the rest of the house.

The foundation hasn’t changed.
Just the seasons.

More books.
More Legos.
More personality.

Same room. Just evolving.

I’ll be sharing more spaces from our renovation — not in order, just as they come. Follow along for more. 🤍

Adding an art lamp was the final touch. It completely changed how this space feels, especially at night. ✨
