It’s that time of year again! Time for the 2022 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! This sale Is when Nordstrom rewards its cardholders by discounting new Fall merchandise before the season for a limited time. It’s my favorite time to stock up on basics like foundational pieces. I also do a little holiday shopping, and maybe pick up one or two new pieces to add to my wardrobe – all on sale!
Nordstrom launched their online preview of the sale on June 29th, and I scoured through the entire catalog so you don’t have to. I’ve been shopping this sale for over 15 years, and I’ve seen lots of changes and constants over that time. I know what the deals are and what’s going to sell out quickly.
Today, I’m giving you my initial thoughts on the sale after perusing the preview, plus I’m showing you what’s on my wish list! Let’s get to it!
2022 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Thoughts
My initial thoughts on the 2022 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale are that it is underwhelming, but that there’s still a lot of good deals on basics & staple pieces. If you’ve read my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Shopping Strategy post or my How to Shop the NAS Like a Pro post, you’ll know that I stay far, far away from the trendy stuff in the sale. There is a lot of trendy 90’s stuff in the sale this year.
Old Reliables are Still Here
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale tends to have some of the same things year after year. This is great because it allows you to add to your collection of Must-Haves each year. It’s reliable & dependable. For example, the Barefoot Dreams Cardigans are always going to be a must-have, and this sale is the best time to buy one. Same with the Spanx Faux Leather Leggings.
Favorite Items Expanded
While some favorite reliable items have disappeared from the sale, others are switching things up. Nordstrom’s Moonlight Pajamas now come in an Eco fabric (whatever that is) & they are offering a nightgown this year. The Moonlight Pajamas are my absolute favorite pajamas. They are so soft and wash really well. They do look like the ones from Target, which are cheaper. I do have the Target version, and the quality and longevity is much better with the Nordstrom brand. Make sure you size down one in the Nordstrom version. I was surprised to see all of the new Moonlight items, and have added a few to my shopping list.
Last year, I finally bit the bullet and bought the Anniversary Sale Exclusive Longchamp Expandable Tote (highly recommend!), and this year they’re offering way more than just 4 colors!
What’s On My Anniversary Sale Wishlist
With all of these changes, I still managed to fill up my wishlist, and it looks like this year I’m going to be moving my body. My wishlist is mostly Zella activewear. I’m in need of a serious restock of bras & panties. I love the beauty exclusives & tools, so definitely have some on my list. After getting my first pair of On shoes in last year’s sale, I think I may add another color this year. They are a great deal during the Anniversary Sale!
Basics
First and foremost, I always pick up 3-4 new pair of my favorite underwear during the sale. These rarely go on sale throughout the year, so this is the best time to buy. They are comfortable, don’t ride up, and wash well in the regular cycle. I wear an XS.
I usually get a new bra during the Anniversary Sale. This year, I’m replacing my favorite Natori Feathers Bra. These are the best bras & this is the best time to buy them. If you’ve never taken advantage of Nordstrom’s free bra sizing, do it. Did you know that the majority of women wear the wrong size bra? Nordstrom will get you sized perfectly and they offer lots of extended sizing both ways.
I think I have enough sets of Moonlight Pajamas, but I’m digging the new nightgown this year, so I’m probably going to get one of those. If you’re in the market for matching PJs, I highly recommend getting the short & long versions of the Moonlight Pajamas in the same colorway. I like to wear the pants with the short sleeve top most of the year. Now that I’m over 40, I like wearing grown up pajama sets to sleep. I’ve been slowly swapping my pajamas each year when these go on sale. I size down in Moonlight Pajamas to the XXS.
New Fall Wardrobe Pieces
I don’t have much in the Fall Wardrobe department because I don’t really need anything.
I’m going to get my favorite lightweight V-neck sweater in Navy. I got two of these cardigans last year and I’m going to pick up the green one this year. They are so soft! The Madewell Bubble Cardigan was one of my favorites from last year, so I’m going to add the black to my collection. I’m also interested in this black blazer. I tried this faux suede moto jacket on last year & passed but it haunted me. So that is on my list as well.
Zella Activewear
The Zella Activewear caught my eye this year, so I’m going to be getting some new leggings, bras, shorts, and a few layering pieces. I need some sort of activewear jacket, so this will work perfectly. I got these joggers last year, and they are my absolute favorite. I size down to a XXS in most Zella, but will go to the store to try this stuff on.
Beauty Exclusives
I always look for what my favorite brands are offering during the Anniversary Sale. Since I’m trying to buy most of my beauty at Ulta this year, I’m not getting a whole lot of beauty items.
The Anniversary Sale is a great time to get a Beauty Tool at a discount, so this year I’m going to try the NuFace Facial Toning Kit. There are a couple of other items that I’m interested in, like the Supergoop Glowscreen set is a great deal, and the Briogio hair mask set. I’m also interested in the Charlotte Tilbury sets including the cheek set and the popular Pillow Talk lip kit that they have every year.
Shoes
Last year, I finally got a new pair of On athletic shoes, and I wore them constantly. I think I’m going to get a different color this year. They are super comfortable!
Home
I’m hoping that our attic project will get done this year, so I’m going to go ahead and buy blankets for our lounge space. These are the softest blankets, and everyone fights over them. So I’m getting one for everyone because this is the best time to buy.
2022 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale
The 2022 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale starts with Icon Level Cardholders shopping at Midnight EDT July 6th, Ambassador level on the 8th and Influencer level on the 9th. It opens to the public on July 16th, and prices go back up on July 30th. I’m an Influencer level, so I will be shopping on the 9th.
