I’ve been wanting to write this post for a while, but now seems like the right time to do it. Stacy’s Savings is changing.
I know I haven’t been posting as regularly as I used to, and the truth is, I have been having an internal dilemma about the direction of this blog and its content. On one hand, I love a good deal, and I love to coupon to save money on the essentials. On the other hand, I love me some Nordstrom.
In the Coupon Blogging world, you don’t shop at luxury department stores. You buy everything as cheaply as possible. In the Lifestyle Blogging world, Coupon blogs get a bad wrap. They are looked down upon. I don’t really think either of these characterizations are fair.
I was raised by a family that lived frugally and well below their means, because that’s the key to financial independence. However, that doesn’t mean that you have to live like you’re destitute & rubbing nickels together.
I believe there is a space on the internet for people like me, who don’t want to spend more than they have to on the everyday essentials, but at the same time want to enjoy their surroundings, or wear nice clothes, or use luxury beauty products. Whatever your passion, you should be able to pursue it AND still live a frugal life. Because living a frugal life and being responsible with your money is what allows you to pursue your passions without financial regret.
So that’s what I’m going to do here from now on. Be the real me. No more drug store shopping trips (although I still do them every Sunday), no more Kroger savings reports (though I still coupon at Kroger with my binder every week), no more coupon release posts (though you can still find them on the blog if you know where to look).
What you will see will be more DIY posts, more frugal living ideas & tips, more fashion & beauty sales and inspiration, and all of that can go hand in hand. For example, the World Market Furniture Sale post I did a couple of weeks ago. I personally didn’t shop it this year, BUT, I had saved my money in anticipation for that sale a few years ago, and that’s when I bought my Everett Foyer Table. It’s nice to know that “YES, this is the best deal. This is when you should buy that table if you have the money.” And that’s what I plan on doing here, alerting you to when I think there’s a really good deal just in case its that time in your life for that product.
Can you coupon at CVS to get toothpaste for free AND shop for clothing at Nordstrom? YES! Nordstrom has awesome sales & deals if you know when to shop & have a strategy. That’s the kind of stuff I’m going to show you, how I live my life, and I already have shown you that this year. The secret to my luxury frugal lifestyle (& how you can do it too) is all in this post.
We’re also going to have more Stacy’s Savings Total Home Makeover posts this year. I have a bunch of house update posts in the queue waiting on images to be edited, so I’m going to do that. We’ve also decided to pull the trigger on the remodel of the last fugly bathroom this year. I. CAN’T. WAIT! That bathroom will be mostly DIY with a hired out shower. There’s a couple other small projects around the house that I want to get to as well. So you’ll see all of that, because I know you love a good DIY/Before & After Post.
I’m also going to have more regular content for you. Look for new posts on Wednesday afternoons, and possibly Thursday afternoons. Definitely new stuff twice a week. I’ll still be doing the Stacy’s Savings Weekly Savings Challenge posts on Mondays in 2018, and I’ll post at least one Friday a month with some weekend sales if there are good ones.
In between those times, you can find me pinning inspiration ideas on Pinterest, posting the latest outfit I pulled from my closet on Instagram, or posting favorite items on sale from my favorite stores on Facebook & Twitter.
I hope you will come hang out with me there. I’d love to have more communication & community with the people who’ve chosen to follow me along on this journey!
Will I still have money-saving tips posts? YES! I’ll still give you ways to save money or make money so that you can save some and spend some however you want, including revamping old posts for today. Its all about living YOUR life without sacrifice, but still staying frugal, because it is totally possible.
So that’s that. I hope you’ll stick around while I make the changes, and I would love to know what you like/don’t like/want to see more of. Please let me know in the comments!
I want to thank you for following along with me to this point. Its because of you and your support that Stacy’s Savings exists and continues to be here. So thank you!
~Stacy
